Help with pendulums!?

At school I've chosen to do an experiment on pendulums. I was just wondering how to find a formula relating the time for one swing back and forth (t in sec) to the length of the string (l in cm). I've found some info on the pendulum equation, but I wanted to see if I could find the formula relating time and length experimentally. What is involved in finding this formula? Thanks so much
